FROM HANDSPRINGS TO SUCCESS- After over 30 years of research and hands-on experience, we’ve learned that teaching motor skills is the most effective way to build the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual skills of children. Much like learning a language, the earlier you start, the easier it is. And the more you stay with it, the more successful you are. At Miyagi Gymnastics, we teach fundamental motor skills in a progressive way, so you child learns at an age-appropriate pace, laying the foundation for a lifetime of success. Best of all, your child will take what they learn—everything from coordination and strength to confidence and independence—far beyond the gym walls. Into you home. Onto the playground and playing field, into the classroom and into LIFE. DREAM BIG! |

NOBORU MIYAGI: FOUNDER OF MIYAGI GYMNASTICS ACADEMY Born in 1948 in Okinawa, Japan, Mr. Miyagi grew up on the small island until he moved to southern California to make a different life for himself. Miyagi made this new life starting at California State College at Northridge. He got a scholarship doing gymnastics after much hard work. He became a Four-Time All American gymnast in the NCAA. After he graduated from Northridge, Mr. Miyagi decided to stay in the gymnastics world. He worked for USC coaching the gymnastics team and coaching at multiple other gyms in the Los Angeles area. After working for other teams, he decided it was time to make his own gym and use his own philosophy. Miyagi started his first gym, called The Miyagi Institute of Gymnastics, in Los Angeles in 1970. After very successful years of training some talented girls in Los Angeles, he decided to move his business to a new location to get away from the big city for his growing family. This is how he came to Auburn, California. Miyagi Gymnastics Academy, in Auburn, opened first in 1984 on Lincoln Way. Miyagi gymnastics moved to Olympic Way in its current place in June of 1987. |
